In the present study, we studied effects shown by exposing juvenile cladocerans with insect hormone Methyl Farnesoate (MF) on the shift from parthenogenesis to bisexual breading (induction of males and ephippia production) as well as on some life cycle parameters in a tropical species Moina micrura inhabiting equatorial  waterbodies of Malaysia. Our results lets us to set up a prediction that hormone based insecticides may have more profound negative effects on freshwater community than previously were considered.

Key words: artificial insecticide, shift from parthenogenesis, ephippia and male production, cladocerans
